GAIL EASTWOOD Textiles

The textiles that I design are highly influenced by the natural world although I am continually working with different subject matter. Inspiration is drawn from travels abroad, memories and colour experiences. Stripes are frequently used, often in response or in conjunction with a photographic image. I use photographs, drawings, paintings and other hand made marks which I scan into the computer and layer these images to create a design. The images are printed on an inkjet printer which uses fabric dyes. I produce stretched canvases in editions, roller blinds, cushions, bags, ribbons, and textile hangings. One off pieces are possible either as commissions, or pieces that I work into with beading.
