ANN VINCENT photographs
Ann is an artist working in a variety of media including drawing and painting but it is her twenty years professional experience as a photographic art director that led to this latest work. Created as tableaux to one sixth scale, using dolls, modelling wax and various media, they are then photographed using a 5x4 studio camera. The photographs are presented here as the beginning of a work in progress.
HELLO! We’re not OK! is a series of images in the tradition of Hogarth’s ‘Modern Moral Subjects’, and follows the progress of our young heroine who believes the lie, peddled by a morally bereft media, that one has to be thin and famous to be worth anything. She tries and fails to make herself fit into this world, eventually she capitulates and in her sad despondency becomes a passive observer of celebrities.
